Job description

We are looking for a Lab Coordinator in order to reinforce our Assay Development team.

As our Lab Coordinator you will be responsible to ensure that all activities within the labs and the cleanroom are safe and controlled.

This entails the following tasks:

  • Responsible to coordinate the IQ, OQ and PQ activities, ensuring that the necessary documents are available before instruments are put in use (Scilife management: Safety and Risk analysis, installation requirements, work instructions, calibration and maintenance schedules, equipment inventory, …);
  • Responsible to guarantee the health and safety of our employees, ensuring all activities undertaken are aligned with our Biosafety permit;
  • Responsible for continued daily operation of the labs and cleanroom. This means organizing daily consumables, ordering and stock tracking and coordinating with the logistics operator(s) to replenish stocks. Organizing maintenance and repair activities in case of breakdowns or scheduled maintenance;
  • Keep track of all maintenance and calibration records and updates;
  • Keep the machine park up and running, manages repairs and interventions;
  • Organize the lab logistics and lab trainings;
  • Ensure general lab organisation (cleaning, on-call system for Sensor4Lab, …);
  • Thoroughly understanding (production) processes and their value in the complete functionality of the platform;
  • Maintain an overview of the different processes and guard/work towards streamlining and uniformity;
  • Identify and troubleshoot process related issues;
  • Maintain a clear planning and reporting strategy;
  • Aid in establishing release for manufacturing documentation (Risk and safety analysis, release for first manufacturing documents);
  • Identify irregularities and proposes possible improvements in the processes;
  • Safeguard a structured approach towards problem solving;
  • Daily focus on continuous improvement.

Job requirements

  • You have a Bachelor in Lab Technologies (Bio-medical) or equivalent by experience;
  • Prevention Advisor (At least basic level, willing to advance);
  • Chemistry and/or (Molecular) Biology knowledge is highly recommended;
  • Experience in IVD development and manufacturing is highly recommended;
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal). Knowledge of Dutch is an asset.;
  • Capable of transferring knowledge to colleagues;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills;
  • You are a real team-player and reliable and colleague;
  • RATIO approach to problem solving is a plus;
  • Cleanroom experience is a plus;
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset;
  • Strong capabilities with Bio-safety measures management;
  • Experience with bio-banking is desirable;
  • You feel comfortable in a start-up environment and you can easily switch from one task to another;
  • You appreciate working in an open space amongst enthusiastic, multidisciplinary and international colleagues;
  • Our offices are located in Leuven (Belgium). Relocation to Belgium is needed;
  • You’re entitled to live and work in Belgium (no work/residence permit needed).
