miDiagnostics is releasing its first product, an ultra-fast PCR test, into the market. This market introduction means rapid organization scaling and supporting the international growth ambitions of the company. For the further development of the Software team, miDiagnostics is looking for a Lead Data Engineering, who will report to the Director Software Engineering.

As our Lead Data Engineering, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leads the Data Engineering team (small team of 3 in total) and has the ability to lead teams working in an agile set-up;
  • Develops, constructs, tests and maintains the data pipeline architectures;
  • Aligns data architecture with business requirements;
  • Supports data acquisition from the lab all the way to cloud infrastructure and connected data visualization tools;
  • Uses structured tools, environments and coding languages to support and further develop sophisticated analytics programs, machine learning and statistical methods;
  • Identifies ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality;
  • Conducts research for industry and business questions;
  • Uses large data sets to address business issues;
  • Prepares data for predictive and prescriptive modelling;
  • Data cleaning;
  • Data visualization;
  • Cascades the company priorities to the Data Engineering team and defines clear objectives and key results;
  • Ensures the right talent is hired and supports hiring via his/her network;
  • Acts as an inspirational leader and promotes a growth mindset across the company;

Job requirements

  • PhD or masters in a scientific field or equivalent through experience;
  • Experience within the medical device industry, or other heavily regulated industries is considered a strong plus;
  • Experience in IEC62304 and 13485 are considered a strong plus;
  • Solid experience in cybersecurity aspects of data engineering;
  • A solid experience in data cleaning, data mining, data analysis, data visualization, and shares our passion for accurate, accessible and transparent data;
  • Experience with data visualization tools (experience in Tableau is a plus);
  • Experience with the python and javascript (knowledge of additional programming languages is a plus);
  • Deep understanding of databases and SQL (experience with mySql is a plus);
  • Familiarity with software for data cleanup (experience with OpenRefine is a plus);
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and REST API;
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal);
  • Strong communication skills;

  • Our offices are located in Leuven (Belgium). Relocation to Belgium is needed. It is essential that you hold entitlement to work and live in Belgium.
