Research Engineer - Automation

Job description

We are looking for an image processing and computer vision specialist, to help expand the capabilities of our current automated camera-based inspection systems.

Situated at the intersection of nanofluidic chip design, fluidic performance characterization, manufacturing improvements and quality control, your job is to algorithmically enable the scale-up of our analysis and testing capacity, and further assist in our striving for data-driven excellence.

You will be responsible for the research, coding, documentation and deployment of visual inspection algorithms and tools, and to embed them within our cloud-based pipelines.

You'll work closely with domain experts on chip manufacturing and fluidic design to help turn data into actionable insights, through use of state-of-the-art vision algorithms.

You will be part of a growing multi-disciplinary engineering team consisting of researchers, developers, electronics engineers, optical engineers, biophysicists, fluidic designers, clinical lab personnel and many more.

Job requirements

  • Master of Science or Engineering degree with a specialization in computer vision and image processing, or equivalent through experience
  • The ideal candidate has a solid research background in computer vision and image processing, applied within an industrial setting. At least a first relevant working experience of a few years.
  • Furthermore, you share our passion for building solutions that will shape the next generation of diagnostical solutions.
  • You feel comfortable in a start-up environment and you can easily switch from one task to another
  • You appreciate working in an open space amongst enthusiastic, multidisciplinary and international colleagues
  • Deep knowledge in image processing, computer vision and AI algorithms and techniques, preferably in an industrialized context.
  • A deep understanding of and experience with camera-based inspection systems and optical design.
  • Hands-on technology and hardware hacking capabilities.
  • Lateral thinking abilities, knowledgeable in science and technology in general, being cross-disciplinary orientated and having an imaginative and forward-thinking personality.
  • Deep knowledge of Python is mandatory.
  • Expert knowledge of MATLAB is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is considered a plus.
  • Detail-oriented, result-focused and quality driven.
  • Strong analytical and planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both in writing as in speech
  • Fluency in English
  • You feel comfortable in a start-up environment and you can easily switch from one task to another
